Queensland
Gazetted fossicking areas (the app can say yes, this is recognised fossicking land), protected areas, state forests, land tenure, 8,666 gold occurrences and mapped shafts.
Victoria — the Golden Triangle
State forests where prospecting is permitted with a Miner's Right, the sixteen parks with designated prospecting areas (Castlemaine Diggings, Greater Bendigo and friends — never wrongly marked prohibited), 10,033 gold workings and 29,246 mapped shafts.
Western Australia
30,431 live mining tenements with the holder named — in WA the question is whose ground is this — plus 67,536 gold workings and 192,523 abandoned-mine features from the state's own safety inventory.
New South Wales
The parks estate (including the State Conservation Areas where mining is lawful — never wrongly marked prohibited), granted mining titles with holders, and 5,848 recorded gold occurrences.
South Australia
The full parks and reserves estate, and every granted tenement off the SARIG register with the holder named.
Tasmania & the Northern Territory
Tasmania's reserves carry the government's own word on mineral availability, quoted verbatim. The NT's parks — Kakadu and Uluru included — answer from the Commission's own boundaries.

Prospectivity, with its own confidence
Scored from occurrences the state has actually recorded — abandoned mines, operating mines, reported occurrences — weighted by how close they are and how precisely they were located. A site recorded to ±10 km supports a wide area weakly, not a narrow one strongly. Score and confidence are separate fields, because "lots of gold, badly located" and "a little gold, precisely located" are different situations.

Designated fossicking land, general permission areas, national parks, conservation parks, state forests, land tenure. Not a colour on its own — the parcel name, the legislation it was declared under, and a link to the department's own page for that area, so you can check us.
Built for the place it's needed
Works with no signal
Download a region before you leave. Occurrences, shafts and boundaries travel in the file. Access data inside a pack expires after 30 days and the app stops showing it, because fossicking areas change by gazette notice and a saved file cannot know.
Old workings, marked as hazards
Shafts and adits the state has mapped, treated as dangerous unless explicitly recorded as remediated. "Unknown" counts as dangerous. Shown before anything else on the screen.
Historical coordinates converted
Numbers off a 1950s map are in AGD66 and sit about 200 m from where they look. GoldTrack converts them properly and tells you how far the point moved.

What it will not do
Published here rather than buried in the terms, because an app honest about its limits is worth more than one that isn't.
- It will not tell you there is gold somewhere. Nothing can. It reports what has been recorded nearby, and says so.
- It is not permission. Confirm with the department, the land manager and the landholder before you go anywhere.
- Coverage differs by state. Not every state publishes the same data — some can't show parks or shafts yet — and every answer's coverage note says exactly what was checked. Western Australia's conservation estate is licensed non-commercial by that state, so this app cannot show it and says so on every WA answer.
- Around 80% of Queensland's mapped mine shafts cannot currently be retrieved from the government service that publishes them — a fault at their end, which we report rather than hide. An area showing no shafts is not a safe area.
- It never publishes protected cultural heritage locations. Where a dataset identifies one, every detail is withheld and only a general duty-of-care reminder is shown.
